pre-natal care

Our goal is to ensure you have a viable, healthy and comfortable pregnancy.

Pre-Natal Chiropractic

As a pregnant person’s weight increases, their center of gravity shifts and they may experience postural compensations respond accordingly. In addition, the ligament laxity necessary for birthing adds to instability in all of their joints, including the spine and pelvis. Chiropractic adjustments help maintain balance in the body and keep your pelvis mobile and open for birth. We have pregnancy pillows that allow the pregnant patient to lay face down safely.

We typically follow the OB-GYN/midwife schedule for chiropractic care. We teach you how to manage and prevent pregnancy aches and pains with therapeutic exercises and proper ergonomics.

Chiropractic care is effective at easing pregnancy discomforts such as:

  • Lower back pain
  • Groin pain
  • Round ligament pain
  • Pain in the glutes
  • Sciatica
  • Headaches
  • Upper back pain
  • Lightening crotch

With pre-natal chiropractic adjustments we strive to reduce discomforts and work to get the pelvis in the best position for delivery. When the pelvis is misaligned it may reduce the amount of room for the developing baby to be comfortable and they may seek out a less than optimal positioning for birth. Currently, the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) recommends that women receive chiropractic care throughout pregnancy to establish pelvic balance and optimize the room a baby has for development throughout pregnancy. With an aligned and balanced pelvis, baby has a greater chance to move into a head down position.

What is Webster Technique?

The Webster Technique is utilized with our pregnant patients. It is a postural analysis and adjustment aimed at increasing mobility and allowing the pelvis to expand. When this happens, it often frees up space in the uterus, ultimately aiding with labor and delivery.

It is often used on patients who have a breech baby. Your chiropractor will not attempt to turn your baby. Instead, the adjustment is about creating space in the pelvis so your baby can more freely move into an optimal position on their own. This technique is incredibly gentle and noninvasive.

The ideal time to begin The Webster Technique is the 32nd week of pregnancy with a singleton and 28th week of pregnancy with multiples is preferable especially if the breech position is confirmed. And if you’re beyond the 32nd week of your pregnancy, don’t worry, the Webster Technique may still help.

The chiropractors at Division Chiropractic are here to assist you during your pregnancy journey.

Pre-Natal Massage

Pre-natal massage uses special positioning and techniques to alleviate pain, tension, improve lymphatic and blood circulation and create overall relaxation for mothers-to-be.

We use memory foam wedges and body pillows for comfortable positioning. We also have special pregnancy tables with a cutout for the belly so the expectant mother can lie prone. Pre-natal massage addresses many common discomforts associated with the skeletal and circulatory changes brought on by hormone shifts during pregnancy.

Our highly trained clinical massage therapists can help you to feel:

  • Reduced back pain
  • Reduced joint pain
  • Reduced headaches
  • Improved circulation
  • Reduced edema and swelling
  • Reduced muscle tension
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Better sleep

This week around the office we had a rare sighting This week around the office we had a rare sighting. Reception Paula from @alchemyacuherbs and Billing Paula from @divisionchiropractic in the same building. They were nice enough to give us a little photo.
What an incredible night! 🏀💛 So grateful to have b What an incredible night! 🏀💛 So grateful to have been part of the Chicago Sky Foundation’s Women’s Small Business Cohort last night. Getting to connect with other women business owners, share stories, and celebrate each other’s hustle was such a special experience, and getting recognized on the court made it even more unforgettable.
And of course, the Sky sealed the deal with a win to close out the night! Proud to be part of a community that champions women in business, on and off the court.
Thank you to the Chicago Sky Foundation for such a meaningful evening 🧡

👀 What We Saw in the Office this Week: a lot of SI 👀 What We Saw in the Office this Week: a lot of SI joint pain during pregnancy and postpartum.
If you’ve felt that deep ache on one side of your low back or pelvis — especially getting out of bed, walking, or rolling over at night — you’re not alone. As your body prepares for (or recovers from) birth, relaxin loosens up your ligaments and your center of gravity shifts, which can put extra stress right on those SI joints. Add in weeks of holding a newborn, and it’s no wonder postpartum moms feel it too.
The good news: this is one of the most common things we help with, and there’s a lot we can do to bring you relief — through pregnancy, delivery, and beyond. You don’t have to just “push through it” for nine (or twelve) months. 🤰
If this sounds familiar, we’d love to help you feel more comfortable in your body. Send us a message, we’re always happy to chat 💛
