If I start treatment, do I have to go forever?

No. We do not want you to feel tied to chiropractic care forever. Your treatment plan may have you coming to the office for care more often at first to ensure you are pain-free and have the tools to remain that way. We are always here if you have a flare up or if a new pain emerges.

What is the audible “pop” that I hear during a spinal adjustment?

During an adjustment gases from the joint space are released. It creates a sound similar to the sound of gas being released when a soda can is opened. In general, hearing this sound during an adjustment is good. It means that the joint is moving freely.

Does chiropractic spinal adjustment hurt?

Chiropractic adjustments very rarely hurt and almost immediately have a positive effect on a patient’s symptoms.

The severity of inflammation as well as muscle spasm may play a role in the body’s resistance to an adjustment, but your chiropractic will talk you through the process to ensure that you feel comfortable.

Sometimes after an adjustment a patient may feel a warm sensation or tingling throughout their body. This is from increased endorphins being released and an increase in vascular activity.

Is it safe for pregnant people to receive chiropractic and massage?

We treat people in all stages of pregnancy, and adapt treatments as you move through each trimester. Our treatments are both safe and effective for a wide array of pregnancy and post-partum ailments.

What conditions do you treat?

We commonly help with back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, pregnancy-related discomfort, and postural strain.  We also work with patients experiencing general stiffness, mobility issues, or flare-ups from daily activities like working at a desk or caring for small children.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No referral is needed.  You can schedule directly with our office.

What should I expect at my first visit?

Your first visit includes a detailed history, movement and orthopedic assessment, and a discussion of your goals.  If needed, we will refer out for x-rays or MRI. If appropriate, treatment will begin the same day and will always be explained beforehand.  For more information, check out our page “What to Expect.”

How long are appointments?

Initial visits are typically longer to allow for evaluation; this ranges from 45-60 minutes.  Follow-up visits are shorter and focused on treatment and progress; these last 15-30 minutes.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable, flexible clothing is recommended so we can assess movement and provide treatment easily.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept many PPO insurance plans.  Coverage varies, so we’re happy to help verify your benefits before your visit.

How many visits will I need?

Treatment frequency varies depending on your condition, goals, and how your body responds.  We create individualized plans and adjust as you progress. This could be as few as 4 visits; however 10-12 visits is average.

Is chiropractic safe?

Chiropractic care is widely considered safe when performed by a licensed provider.  We use thorough evaluations and tailor care to each patient.

Can I bring my baby or child to my appointment?

Yes, babies and children are always welcome!  We understand the realities of postpartum life and modern parenting.  We do our best to make visits as easy as possible.

What’s the difference between chiropractic care and massage?

Chiropractic care primarily focuses on joint mobility and alignment, while massage therapy focuses on muscle tension and soft tissue.  Many patients benefit from a combination of both.

When can I start postpartum treatment?

Many patients begin chiropractic care within the first few weeks after delivery for their upper back and neck pain from caring for your sweet newborn. We wait until clearance from your birth team for work into the lower back and pelvis in chiropractic care and any massage.

Can chiropractic help with pelvic floor issues?

Yes– chiropractic care can help support pelvic floor issues by improving pelvic alignment, reducing muscle tension, and restoring proper movement. While we don’t perform internal pelvic floor therapy, we use gentle, external techniques and exercises to support function and reduce symptoms.

What is your cancellation/missed appointment policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, since that time is reserved exclusively for you.  If you miss an appointment or cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged a $45 fee for a service of 60 minutes or less (e.g., chiropractic new patient visit, 60-minute massage), or $70 for a service of 61 minutes or more (e.g., 90-minute massage).  If your appointment includes multiple services booked in the same day (e.g., a chiropractic visit and a massage on the same day), the fee is $35 per service instead.  Missed appointment fees are the patient’s responsibility and cannot be billed to insurance.

What an incredible night! 🏀💛 So grateful to have b What an incredible night! 🏀💛 So grateful to have been part of the Chicago Sky Foundation’s Women’s Small Business Cohort last night. Getting to connect with other women business owners, share stories, and celebrate each other’s hustle was such a special experience, and getting recognized on the court made it even more unforgettable.
And of course, the Sky sealed the deal with a win to close out the night! Proud to be part of a community that champions women in business, on and off the court.
Thank you to the Chicago Sky Foundation for such a meaningful evening 🧡

👀 What We Saw in the Office this Week: a lot of SI 👀 What We Saw in the Office this Week: a lot of SI joint pain during pregnancy and postpartum.
If you’ve felt that deep ache on one side of your low back or pelvis — especially getting out of bed, walking, or rolling over at night — you’re not alone. As your body prepares for (or recovers from) birth, relaxin loosens up your ligaments and your center of gravity shifts, which can put extra stress right on those SI joints. Add in weeks of holding a newborn, and it’s no wonder postpartum moms feel it too.
The good news: this is one of the most common things we help with, and there’s a lot we can do to bring you relief — through pregnancy, delivery, and beyond. You don’t have to just “push through it” for nine (or twelve) months. 🤰
If this sounds familiar, we’d love to help you feel more comfortable in your body. Send us a message, we’re always happy to chat 💛
