Division Chiropractic’s Health and Self-Care Gift Ideas

November 26, 2025 By Megan Thompson

The holidays are the perfect time to care for the people you love (including yourself).  This year, we asked our team to pick one wellness item they genuinely love and recommend, and we’re here to pass their health and self-care gift ideas onto you.

These are the kinds of gifts that say “I care about your comfort, your rest, and your well-being,” whether you’re shopping for a partner, a parent, a friend, or yourself.  From simple daily upgrades to thoughtful little luxuries, this list is full of items our team actually uses in real life and stands behind.

Think of it as a behind-the-scenes peek at what your care team gives, uses, and trusts.

Without further ado, let’s get into these health and self-care gift ideas:

Angel (clinic manager) – Heated Blanket

Angel says her heated blanket gives her life!  They’re cozy and perfect for curling up on a cool day, but they have other super powers too: Their gentle heat helps relax tight muscles, increase circulation, calm the nervous system, and ease everyday aches.

Paula (front desk) – Cervical Traction Device

Paula gets immense shoulder and neck pain relief from using a cervical traction device once a day.  The name makes this tool sound awfully complicated, but it’s just a special pillow that helps you stretch tense neck and shoulder muscles while supporting the natural curve of your neck.   You use it for up to ten minutes a day, so it’s a minimal time commitment with maximum results!  It’s supposed to help with TMJ pain too.

Dr. McTeer (chiropractor) – Why Do I Hurt? : A Patient Book About The Neuroscience Of Pain

Dr. McTeer loves how this book breaks down pain science principles in a digestible way that can help patients feel knowledgeable and empowered about their experience.  It explains the science behind pain in simple language, helping readers understand what their body is doing, and why pain doesn’t always mean something is “wrong.”  It’s a great pick for anyone who wants to feel more in control of their healing process.

Dr. Naveed (chiropractor) – TENS Unit

Dr. Naveed suggests a TENS unit because it’s a tool that folks can easily use at home to support their recovery.  A TENS unit is a portable device that uses gentle electrical stimulation to help reduce muscle tension and calm irritated nerves.  It’s great for managing pain between appointments, improving circulation, and relaxing tight areas after long workdays or workouts.

Dr. Thompson (chiropractor) – Lacrosse Ball

Dr. Thompson thinks Lacrosse balls are nifty because you can use them to self-massage traps, glutes, feet and more!  Whenever she’s been at her desk for a bit too long and doesn’t have time to visit one of our massage therapists, she uses a Lacrosse ball. Unlike tennis balls that compress easily, Lacrosse balls apply steady pressure which helps release deep tension and break up stubborn knots.  They’re simple, inexpensive, and incredibly effective.  And best of all, we have some available in the clinic, so you can pick one up next time you’re in.

Alison (massage therapist) – FitBeast Back Roller

Alison thinks FitBeast’s back rollers (especially the smaller 6-inch version) are wonderful for helping relax stiff and sore muscles.  There are various brands of rollers out there– some better constructed than others– and Alison likes how durable and well-built the FitBeast models are.  She likes the Chirp Wheel brand, too, but the FitBeast one is more affordable.  You can use this tool all over your body, but it’s extra nice when you use it to roll up and down your mid to upper back area.  The groove in the center protects your spine from compression, and the bumps on the outer sides help to melt away tension.

Ada (massage therapist) – Oura Ring

Ada loves the wealth of information you can learn about yourself from the Oura Ring.  It tracks sleep, recovery, stress, and activity (and more) in one simple wearable.  It’s extremely advanced; for example, its sleep tracking includes checking your blood oxygen saturation levels, which could help indicate possible disturbances in your breathing during sleep.  Because it’s worn like a ring, it’s comfortable enough to wear 24/7 without getting in the way.  It’s a great gift for anyone who wants real insight into their health without the feel of a bulky fitness tracker.

Tiara (massage therapist) – Resistance Bands

Tiara thinks resistance bands are wonderful because they’re small and simple, but they can have a big impact on increasing mobility.  Resistance bands are an easy way to build strength, improve mobility, and support joint health at home or on the go.  They allow you to train muscles through full ranges of motion without heavy weights, making them great for beginners and athletes alike.  Bands are also excellent for rehab, warm-ups, and posture work.  They’re also wonderful for folks that are hypermobile because they can keep you from accidently over-extending your joints—something that’s all too easy for hypermobile jointed individuals (read our blog post on hypermobility here).

  ______________

Each item in this guide was selected by our team with one goal in mind: helping you and your loved ones feel better in your bodies, and more supported in your daily life.  We believe gifts should add value — not clutter– and these picks reflect that philosophy.  If even one of these ideas improves your comfort or well-being this season, then we’ve done our job.

Here’s to a healthier, more intentional holiday season!

Do you have any gifting suggestions for us?  Any must-have self-care tools you can’t believe we missed?  We’d love to hear from you.

Email us at schedule@divisionchiro.com to give us more ideas this holiday season and beyond.

Why Movement Breaks Matter for Nerve Health Long Why Movement Breaks Matter for Nerve Health

Long periods of sitting can place constant pressure on nerves and limit healthy blood flow, which may lead to stiffness, tingling, or discomfort over time. Taking regular movement breaks helps nerves glide, improves circulation, and keeps your nervous system from becoming irritated or compressed.

Even standing up, walking for a minute, or gently stretching every 30–60 minutes can make a big difference in how your body feels throughout the day. Small breaks = big support for long-term nerve health.

Movement Monday – Neck & Nerve Series This week w Movement Monday – Neck & Nerve Series

This week we’re focusing on standing hip dips using a wall for support. While this movement targets the hips and lateral core, it also plays a big role in reducing compensations that travel up the spine — helping decrease tension in the low back, shoulders, and even the neck.

Stand tall with one hand lightly on the wall, shift weight into the standing leg, and lower the opposite hip gently toward the floor before lifting it back to neutral. Slow, controlled reps help strengthen the lateral hip muscles and improve pelvic stability.

Better support from the hips means better posture and fewer stress patterns traveling upward. Give it a try today!
